One of the most sought-after young screenwriters in Hollywood, San Francisco native Alex Tse has, in just a few short years, risen through its ranks to pen one of the year's most anticipated films, DC Comics' THE WATCHMEN. In this intimate session, Tse, in conversation with friend and fellow filmmaker Spencer Nakasako, will delve into the world of writing for the screen: his unorthodox route through Hollywood, the inspirations for his creativity and the pressures of adapting one of the most beloved graphics novels of all time.

A graduate of Emerson College, Tse's first feature script, 87 FLEER, set in The City's Richmond District, was bought by Showtime (though not yet produced), opening the door to a more ambitious project that eventually became the television movie SUCKA FREE CITY (2004), directed by Spike Lee. A gritty and incisive sociological portrait of San Francisco, CITY won accolades for its distinctive and authentic voice, and propelled Tse to his most recent project, THE WATCHMEN, directed by Zack Snyder (300).

Spencer Nakasako is a San Francisco-based filmmaker whose works include the acclaimed documentary trilogy: AKA DON BONUS, KELLY LOVES TONY, and REFUGEE.
