Bollywood at the Castro returns with mega-star Shah Rukh Khan (OM SHANTI OM, SFIAAFF '08) lighting up the screen in this sweet, mischievous love story that brims with energy and heart, and asks the all-important question, "So You Think You Can Dance?"
Khan plays Suri, a timid, mustachioed office worker whose drab world changes when he meets and eventually marries the beautiful, sorrowful widow Taani (radiant newcomer Anushka Sharma), who's still grieving over the loss of her first husband. Hoping to mend Taani's broken heart, Suri transforms himself into a fun-loving alter-ego with the help of his flamboyant best friend and hairdresser. The result is Raj, a swaggering macho man (sans mustache) who rides a motorcycle in skin-tight jeans and cracks jokes a mile a minute. His mission: to bring Taani out of her shell and allow her to live fully again. When she enters Dancing Jodi, a reality TV contest, fate pairs her with Raj as a dance partner. As she finds herself falling for him, Suri unexpectedly is forced to compete against himself for her affection!
An all-out charmer, RNBDJ reunites Khan with director Aditya Chopra with whom he made DILWALE DULHANIA LE JAYENGE (1995), one of the highest-grossing Bollywood films of all time. This time around they create something just as special, a romantic comedy that hits all the right spots.
With a ten-minute intermission.
