Sho Aikawa's character has a new mission: to target the head of the yakuza organization from the first film. But five years later, he is still working undercover at a dead-end job with a low-level gang; in order to identify the real person in charge, he must become increasingly complicit with the organization he wants to destroy. Complicating his search for retribution is the corporate hierarchy of the crime world, where subordinates are willing to take the fall for their bosses. Kurosawa has called this film a precursor to CURE and the first full expression of his own directorial style.
